Is Outsourcing to the Philippines safe?
A question I get asked a lot is whether Outsourcing to the Philippines is safe or not?
My answer is yes and no.
It all depends on what your Outsourcing, and how you’re outsourcing.
For example if you’re working with someone or a team in the Philippines to help you with your social media marketing then most of the stuff that you’re sharing with them is not going to be very sensitive data.
Now if you’re looking at Outsourcing customer service where your staff in the Philippines has access to customer data, along with possibly taking payments, then this is where your risk to outsource is higher.
The reason BPO call centers exist in the Philippines is to mitigate the risks of data security.
BPO call centers in the Philippines are set up so that when staff arrive on site they first have to get through security, then they need to sign in through biometrics, and then there’s management within the call center who monitor.
In the end it’s up to you. are you comfortable with home-based staff or do you need your data protected? in the end it’s up to you are you comfortable with Homebase staff or do you need to protect your data.
